Location
Based in Moulsham Street, only a few minutes from Chelmsford City Centre and Railway Station, our family run childcare centre has recently expanded into an attractive courtyard development at St John's Court, which was historically school buildings in the 1800's, their open plan layouts lending themselves perfectly to the toddlers and pre-school children.
We proudly provide a fully featured Sensory Room here at St John's Court.
Just next door at 79-81 Moulsham Street, is our baby rooms, hosting separate sleep rooms and soft play.
This is also the location of our recently installed new play garden, with rubber wet pour surfacing to prevent slips and a custom designed climbing frame with slide.
We also have a large carpark that can be used for drop offs and pickup, and a buggy park for parents to use.
Partnership with Parents
At Camelot we pride ourselves on having strong partnerships with parents. We offer lots of opportunities for parents play an acting role, big or small.
Some of the ways we involve parents are:
Parent’s forum
We hold these meetings 3 times a year (Once a term) and we all join together, and these are held in various locations, where we discuss the nursery and moving it forward, fundraising, and any current and future developments. It is a great way to meet other parents from your child’s room. We look forward to seeing you there!
Parents Evenings
We offer 10/15-minute slots with your child’s key person, and this enables parents to have a detailed chat with their child’s Key person on a one to one basis. We also like to show you your child’s learning journal, which includes, observations, photos and art work.
Summer fetes
Every Summer Camelot holds these spectacular events for all age’s, friends and families to join in. Camelot holds a variety of stalls and entertainment factors and encourages parents to volunteer their help and support.
Stay and Play sessions
Camelot aim to hold a variety of stay and play sessions throughout the year, ranging on a few different themes. Parents and carers and family are welcome to join in on learning a new fact or just taking part in an extra activity with their child.
Annual Outing
This is one of Camelot’s favourite events of the year, and we enjoy taking a coach of children and families to our chosen venue or farm in the local Essex area, and exploring the animals and environment and having a joyful day out.
Parent Representatives
We have a small group of parents who are willing to help Camelot. We send emails to just this group to talk about changes and opinions and we often send our policy updates to check that parents feel happy before anything is set in stone. If you would like to join this group please let Victoria know.
Resources and Equipment
We offer excellent resources and equipment to aid your child's learning and development and the nursery works alongside the every child matters outcomes and the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) which is the curriculum for all under 5 year olds.
Children have access to a large outdoor space with a wide range of play equipment to develop their gross motor skills. This area also provides children with the opportunity to grow their own flowers and vegetables and learn about their natural environment.
All staff are fully qualified and received regular training, as well as an enhanced CRB disclosure check and at least two satisfactory references before they start to work one on one with children.
Our Menu / Kitchen
We have received a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating for both our kitchens, indicating not only how well our food is handled but also the kitchen conditions and the nursery's process for managing food. All food is freshly prepared on site following a 9 day rolling menu taking into consideration individuals children's needs.
Here is our current menu:
Our newly installed kitchen at St John's court was custom designed and installed to suit the needs of the nursery, including all stainless steel work-surfaces and cupboards and an automatic food lift, to assist with distribution.
