General about the Nursery
Why should I choose Camelot for my child?

Camelot values, respects and encourages all children to be the very best version of themselves and to strive for high standards of learning and education.
Children are at the very heart of what we do, informing and contributing to our ethos and curriculum day to day.
Staff and parents are regularly involved to make suggestions, evaluations and given the ability to input to all aspects of the nursery. Together we work with the view to give all children the very best early education and start to life.

I know that you are Ofsted approved; what does this mean?
Ofsted inspect and regulate to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. We are regulated by this body. The nursery is registered as a good provision that “children have fun and feel safe in nursery, staff encourage children’s learning and education and are they are qualified appropriately.”. Our Ofsted number is: EY427876
Do you offer funded entitlement spaces for two, three and four year-olds?
Yes we do and we do the utmost to ensure we are as flexible as you want us to be. We also offer the 'Extended Entitlement for Working Parents', which allows for 30 hours of childcare. Please note that we have a small charge for Food/Resources for funded sessions as this is specifically excluded from the funding payments from the council. For us to enable a two year old funding space parents and Carers are required to speak to their local children’s centre to arrange the funding entitlement. Please contact the nursery for more information.
What clothes is my child expected to wear? Are there any extra items you need to buy, such as a uniform?
Just comfortable clothes is perfect, there is no other extra purchases required, although you may want to pack a second set of clothes for those little accidents! Please make sure you label all your child’s clothing. Please also note we ask parents to provide a sun hat and sun cream in the summer months and wellie boots in the winter months.
Do you accept childcare vouchers?
Yes we do, please notify Camelot when you first start with us what voucher company you use and we can do the rest.
Do you offer a sibling discount to parents with more than one sibling?
Yes, we offer 10% discount off fees for the eldest child attending Camelot.
Can I book extra sessions for my child?
Yes, Camelot are happy to accommodate extra sessions if we have the availability and are within our ratios, please email Camelot to book these.
Starting Nursery
Once my child has been dropped off, how long can I stay?
This will depend on your child’s individual needs. In some cases it may be more beneficial for your child for you to leave as soon as possible to avoid any added distress.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
No – as the nursery accommodates children of all ages, this is something that we can help with.
Does the Nursery offer Settle in visits for my child?
Yes we do and we offer three initial visits at various times and sessions to suit the nursery and yourself, if your child requires a few more to help them settle in, we are happy to work closely with you.
Do the children have a daily routine?
The answer is yes however the nursery is separated into age groups, and the routines in place are dependent upon these groups, tailored towards the specific needs of the children – for specific details please contact us.
Are nappies and food supplied as part of the price?
We ask parents to provide nappies, wipes, formula/breast milk and cream for their child. Breakfast, Snack, Lunch and Tea as well as cows/soya milk are provided in the price (including of weaning children)
Food and Menus
Does the Nursery cook the food fresh and on site?
Yes, we pride ourselves on our 9 day rolling menu, which is adapted twice a year to be nutritious for the Summer and Winter months. Our Chefs enjoy making home made wholesome meals for the children in our care.
My Child has a dietary requirement can you accommodate this?
Yes, we would have detailed conversations with our chefs, and your childs key worker to ensure that your childs dietary and cultural requirements are met, including, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, etc, and the nursery operates a Nut free zone.
Staff
Do you adhere to staff to children ratios?
Yes, we have ratios based on different ages of children, according to OFSTED regulations being:
Under 2’s: 1 staff member : 3 children
2 year olds: 1 staff member : 4 children
3-5 year olds: 1 staff member : 8 children
Are the staff suitably qualified?
All of our staff are qualified to level 3 in childcare and education, or training towards this; a number are qualified above this level. We also have some members undergoing training courses too. Camelot offer staff First Aid training, Food and hygiene training and safeguarding children, and we are ensure this training is always updated and refreshed.
How do staff communicate with parents?
Every day a member of staff will greet you in the morning and feedback at the end of the day, we aim to send out a newsletter once a month and we also have invested in a system called Dayshare, which will email you updates, including daily accounts of your child’s day. We also offer two parents evenings during January and July.
Do the staff take children on outings?
Yes we do, we do ask for permission when you first begin Camelot. We love to visit our local community such as the park, library, post office, pet shops to extend our children’s learning. Some trips we offer may come at an extra cost such as the pantomime at Christmas time.
If we have a problem who do we talk to?
Initially you can talk to your child’s key person in your child’s room, or the deputy manager and senior team are always on hand. If they are unable to help you can approach the manager.
